Come with us on a city walk to our favorite places in Forchheim's old town and discover the sights of the royal half-timbered town. • 0:00 - Welcome to Forchheim • 0:05 - Town Hall Square • 0:14 - Kaiserpfalz • 0:19 - Little Venice • 0:25 - View from the fortress • We start our tour at the Town Hall Square. Every year in the run-up to Christmas, the town hall is transformed into the “most beautiful advent calendar in the world”, but the medieval half-timbered building is also worth a visit in the warm season. The town hall was built in 1402 and is adorned with funny carvings. During a city tour, you will find out why some figures show you a bare bottom. • Immediately behind the town hall square, the path leads past the Kaiserpfalz. The prince-bishop's castle from the 14th century is not only interesting from the outside. Inside the building, you will find the Pfalzmuseum Forchheim with three special museums. The inner courtyard is often used for cultural events such as the Open Air Jazz Days and is transformed into an open-air cinema every year during the Franconian cinema summer. • The Kaiserpfalz in Forchheim: https://kaiserpfalz.forchheim.de/en/ • There is a lot of water in Forchheim: The Main Danube Canal, the Regnitz and the Wiesent all flow through the city and you should be careful not to accidentally step into the “Bächla”, which meanders through the shopping street. Because of the many waterways and bridges, the section between the Spitalkirche and Vogelstraße is called Little Venice . The area could just as easily be called “Little Pisa” because here stands the “leaning house” - the Kammerer’s mill, which leans at a dangerous angle above the water. • The goal of the city walk is the Forchheim fortress. The north and northwest sides of the ramparts are best preserved and particularly impressive. You can visit the fortress on a tour that also takes you through the casemates, the interior of the facilities. The tour explains why the Forchheim residents are still sometimes called „Mauerscheißer“ (wall shitters) today. Enjoy the view over the old town of Forchheim with a picnic in the park on top of the wall. • Forchheim's sights, events, insider tips Co.: • https://www.frankentourismus.com/citi... • Further information about Franconia: • https://www.frankentourismus.com/ • #Franconia #forchheim #VisitFranconia
