2014 sees the 40th anniversary of the release of High Windows, the last significant release of the works of poet Philip Larkin. The poem This Be The Verse featured in High Windows and has become not only his best known and most quoted poem but also one of the best known poems in literary history. The opening lines 'They fuck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do' have become globally synonymous with the trials of parent and child relationships. • This short film adaption of the poem has been made by award-winning Yorkshire film-maker Dave Lee, the latest of three films of Larkin poems he has made in collaboration with Oscar-nominated acting legend Sir Tom Courtenay. • Hard to explain this rendering of Larkin's This Be the Verse, but see for yourself, it's shattering. - Bryan Appleyard of the Sunday Times, via Twitter. • Contact: @davelee1968 on Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/davelee1968
