Just a day or two after I posted breaks from one Flix from the Frog airing, I found another to post breaks from. These are from a telecast of Stealing Home , which Roger Ebert dismissed as a sickeningly sentimental baseball drama upon its initial release in 1988. • Contents: • End of Infomercial: Slim In 6 • Station ID: KWBA (promoting Smallville ; I figured that @lovesvegas should recognize that as he says it was the only show he had taped on a regular basis during the 2000s). • Bumper: Flix from the Frog • Text: This film has been modified as follows from its original version: it has been formatted to fit your screen and edited for content. • Logo: Warner Bros. • KWBA Promo: Amazing May Sweepstakes Winners • Adverts: • a. El Parador Mexican Restaurant • b. Calvary Christian Fellowship of Tucson • c. Maaco • d. Tucson Cheer Academy • KWBA Promo: Say Anything . . . • Adverts: • a. Bishop Auto Sales • b. Casino Del Sol • c. Direnfeld Physical Therapy • d. Sakura [here's a jingle that can't decide if it's for a seafood restaurant or a home care specialist.—Ed.] • KWBA Promo: Flix from the Frog • Adverts: • a. Tucson Appliance Co. [this must be the earliest ad for that company I've seen . . . and aren't their low prices YOUR priority? Not theirs?] • b. Catalina Cooling Heating • c. Eatza Pizza [which eventually got eaten up by a Connecticut company, filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy, and is essentially dead now. The first of the two locations now houses a Mexican restaurant called El Potosino . . . I think. The second of the two locations, I think, is now a Burger King.] • d. Barbeques Galore [yes, this marks the return of America's largest chain of the kind of store so niche it only has two locations listed on the screen.] • KWBA Promos: • a. Diamondbacks vs. Red Sox • b. Diamondbacks Tonight • Adverts: • a. Complete Furniture • b. Tygiel Physical Therapy [according to Google Maps, there is . . . NOTHING standing at that location today. Unless you want to count the occasional cars.] • b. Eatza Pizza • c. Calvary Christian Fellowship of Tucson • Station ID: KWBA • KWBA Bumper: Flix from the Frog • Station ID: KWBA • The WB Promo: Witchblade: Transcendence • Adverts: • a. HotZone Tanning [yet another local business that is gone these days; it's been replaced by some store called Budget Blinds.—Ed.] • b. Tucson Appliance Co. • c. Sakura [some more details on that place now; the 6091 N. Oracle location is now home to Mr. An's Teppan Steak Seafood. However, the 6534 E. Tanque Verde location of Sakura is still around.—Ed.] • d. Desert Diamond Casino • The WB Promo: 7th Heaven • Adverts: • a. HotZone Tanning • b. First Chiropractic • c. Catalina Cooling Heating • d. Eatza Pizza • e. Southwest Airlines Vacations to San Diego (CC) [ you stay classy . . . ] • KWBA Bumper: Flix from the Frog • Adverts: • a. Casino Del Sol • b. The Backstage [now here's a nightclub so exciting, it's . . . since been renamed to the Event and is no longer a sports grill or a nightclub. Here's the link to this new place: http://www.eventtucson.com—Ed.] • c. Sparkletts Water [which apparently had no idea of what to use for a jingle, and therefore had to resort to ripping off the theme song of Three's Company . Also, Sparkletts is still around, and you can visit it at https://www.sparkletts.com.—Ed.] • KWBA Promo: Diamondbacks vs. Red Sox • Advert: HotZone Tanning • Station ID: KWBA • Adverts: • a. Catalina Cooling Heating • b. Complete Furniture [one last remark about this store until I find another ad for it; the 2455 N. 1st Avenue location is now home to a place called High Level Smoke Show. Rather amusingly, the artwork on one side of the building, according to Google Maps, depicts Peter Griffin from Family Guy getting bagged on pot.—Ed.] • c. Maaco [with Burt Reynolds again] • d. Tygiel Physical Therapy • The WB Promo: 7th Heaven • Adverts: • a. Letty Cosmetics • b. First Chiropractic • c. Arizona Eclipse Glass Tinting [AWESOME! I GET TO WATCH THE ORIGINAL LION KING OR OTHER TAPES WHILE WAITING FOR THE CAR TO GET ITS WINDOWS REPLACED! Oh wait. The location is likely closed now. Damn. I have no idea where the tapes it had are today.] • d. El Parador Mexican Restaurant • KWBA Bumper: Flix from the Frog • Adverts: • a. Progressive.com [or, at least, an ad for that site from the pre-Flo days] • b. Southwest Truck Driver Training • c. First Chiropractic
