Almost all the noise originates from the rotor still slightly out of balance, and the steam leaking through bearings due to seals not yet being installed. The vibration of the turbine on bricks sitting on plywood was acting like a speaker diaphragm, amplifying the vibration noise. • I put some bubble wrap between the bricks and plywood to break that sound path to better represent the actual turbine noise level. As I walk into the house and close the door, I am approximating what the sound level would be outside of a garage or out building with the turbine running inside. Basically you can't hear it. • So if installed at a quiet location, the turbine will not be a nuissance at all and could run 24/7/365 without producing any noticeable noise pollution from outside the turbine room . • After balancing and connection of condenser steam path, the turbine will be far quieter than this already satisfactory level for home power generation.
