『FOUL』は、49文字から成る不思議な小説を原作とする、アニメーションオムニバス「Pass49e」の収録作品のひとつ。 • 飢餓に苦しむ村で生きる青年・ツヴィは、村の発展のため、芥子栽培の土壌生成として森林を焼く。自然を愛し慈しむ別の種族の少年・ハオがこれに抵抗し、命を落とす。果たして、村は芥子栽培のおかげで復興し、ツヴィは川へ花を積みに行くが……。「自然」と「発展」の対立を軸に、ふたつの歪な価値観が交差する物語。 • FOUL is one of the featured works in the animation anthology Pass49e, based on a mysterious novel consisting of 49 characters. • Duy, a young man living in a village suffering from famine, burns down the forest in pursuit of the village's development, aiming to generate soil for mustard cultivation. Hao, a young boy from a different race who loves and cherishes nature, resists this action and loses his life. Eventually, thanks to the cultivation of mustard, the village manages to recover, and Duy goes to the river to load flowers.
