Well they are actually quite similar with some key differences. I recommend beard oil as the superior conditioning product for your beard. This is important for both the hairs and the skin for a softer stronger beard. You can start using beard oil in the first 2-4 weeks of growth. • Beard balm on the other hand is the superior control product that will give you hold and tame the wild hairs that are sticking out. This becomes very handy as your beard grows longer. When the hairs are long enough to be wild you can start using beard balm. • When it comes down to beard oil vs. beard balm it's a matter of personal preference. Both can be used together to great effect. Always remember, apply oil before balm. You may have to experiment with a routine to find what works best for you. • A simple routine of using both would be to apply the oil at night and then the balm the next morning. If you want to apply both at the same time I'd suggest doing a half application of oil in the morning and then a top coat of balm before you leave the house. • Each product has it's own look and finish. Beard oil will have a bright shine that will bring out the subtly of colors in your beard. Beard balm on the other hand has more of a dull satin finish.
