Durban's Buffelsdraai Landfill site in Verulam has been permanently closed. This follows a violent confrontation between private security guards and waste pickers last week. One person died, and several others were injured. However, access will be given to community recycling cooperatives. • The decision follows a meeting between residents and the eThekwini Municipality.
