A paper published in the scientific journal Cell on April 15, detailed how the researchers grew the mixed embryos – or chimeras – in a test tube for up to 20 days. Scientists injected human stem cells into the early-stage embryos of the crab-eating macaque. They hope the study will provide better models for testing drugs and potentially be used to grow human organs for transplant.
