He found himself as a newly chosen representative in Prussian government. In 1848, the year of revolutions, Prussian liberals started a revolution which was against Bismarck’s views. • However, the revolution didn’t last very long and the new king elected Bismarck to be in charge of the government. Together with Helmuth von Moltke and Albrecht von Roon, Bismarck unified German state under Prussian rule. • Death of the Danish king allowed Bismarck to force Denmark into war and, together with Austria, took German-speaking duchies from them. Unable to reach an agreement with Austrians what to do with the Duchies, the Austro-Prussian war started, with the Prussians emerging victorious. • After publishing a fake transcript of the meeting between the Prussian king Wilhelm I and a French ambassador, the French declared war.
