The issue was that I really wanted an explosion, like a real legit explosion. After seeing how the potassium reacted with a tub of water I realized that the potassium would continue to float unless it was heavy enough to sink or sink because it was trapped in a weighted bag. Since we only had about 5 grams left (not enough to sink in the water due to the hydrogen gas immediately being formed) I went with the bag option. I was NOT disappointed! The reaction happened so quickly and was so loud I pulled my hip like a 85 year old man.
