How powerful is the 2020 Ducati Monster 1200 S? We put the big-displacement Monster on the Cycle World dyno to find out. • The 2020 Ducati Monster 1200 S is an icon of the naked streetfighter segment and the halo of the brand’s Monster lineup—including the Monster 797, Monster 821, and Monster 1200 models. It’s powered by a big 1,198cc Testaretta V-twin engine and, being the upper-spec S model, comes equipped with an array of top-shelf components. What does the $17,595 price tag provide? How about fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, dual Brembo M50 Monoblock calipers, a sophisticated rider aids electronics package, and a trick blacked-out treatment. • Ahead of an upcoming comparison test, we strapped the 2020 Ducati Monster 1200 S to the Cycle World Dynojet 250i dynamometer, recording horsepower and torque measurements. The flagship monster produced 131.4 hp at 9,200 rpm and 81.6 pound-feet of torque at 7,600 rpm. • Analyzing closer, it’s important to point out the Monster’s linear power delivery and low rpm, while a spike brings the 1200 S to life around 7,000 rpm. It’s friendly around town, but highly entertaining on the back roads and, in combination with a refined Ducati Wheelie Control function, often induces giggle-worthy low-trajectory wheelies between curves. • Read the full article here: https://www.cycleworld.com/story/bike... • Subscribe to Cycle World Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/c/cycleworld?s... • Read more from Cycle World: https://www.cycleworld.com/ • Buy Cycle World Merch: https://teespring.com/stores/cycleworld
