Leitmotives from Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen (Ring Cycle). • • This leitmotif is known as Valkyries or Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) which is first heard in the second act. This leitmotive is one of the most famous leitmotives in the entire ring cycle. It represents the Valkyries who govern who dies in battle. This leitmotive is derived from the last three notes of Erda. You can see the three notes in the Valkyrie leitmotif circled in the picture.
