Will a self-confessed whiskey noob finally find a bourbon she likes when she tries Woodford Reserve? Let's find out! • Woodford reserve bourbon is a whiskey which often features on a top ten list of the most approachable and affordable bourbons on the market. But how true is that? • It's a Kentucky Straight Bourbon with a mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. it also a no-age-statement whiskey, but the suspicion is that it is about 7 years old, which which should give it some nice, deep flavours. However, it does come in at 43.2% ABV, which means it might be a little softer than other bourbons, and hopefully one Rose will like! • Woodford Reserve Tasting Notes: • Nose: • The nose is really sweet, with rich vanilla, some oak spice and citrus jumping out of the glass. It's wuite light, but the more you sit with it, you get a little bit of dark fruits and dark chocolate. • Palate: • Similarly sweet and spicy on the palate, with more of the citrus notes, like an orange peel. There's a bit of candied sugar on the palate, with a touch of creamy caramel, but again, it's not the heaviest mouthfeel on the palate. • Finish: • It's a relatively short finish, with the sweetness fading quickly, but the oak spice and citrus lingering on. • Ultimately, it's a very nice bourbon, and the best Rose has tasted in a long while... However, it's not her ideal whiskey.
