00:14 WD-40 Baking Soda • 01:49 Dawn Dishwashing Liquid Nail Brush • 03:08 OxyClean Max Force • We've all been there. Maybe we made some adjustments to our bike out on the road or fixed a bicycle problem as soon as we got home without changing our clothes first. • Here are some tips and tricks I've used. Some may work, other may not. But many times, the results are surprisingly good. • 1. If it's grease and occurred recently (i.e. last 24 hours), spay with a little WD-40 and let soak in a few minutes. Sprinkle with Baking Soda and try blotting away or brushing with nail brush the grease. Rinse under cold water. Repeat several times before washing or scrubbing. Remember that washing your clothing first may set the stain in place making it difficult to remove. • 2. Use Dawn dish washing liquid and scrub with finger nail brush. Rinse and repeat. Only problem here is that working with delicate clothing such as a cycling jersey may leave some marks from the brush (although that may be better than the stain). • 3. Sometimes you can spray with clothing stain remover (such as that from OxyClean) and let sit overnight. With some deep stains, you may want to leave the clothing out and spray it with stain remover daily without washing for several days. Then, when you put it in the wash, put the clothing with the stain showing on top and pour in your detergent. • Things to keep in mind: • • Use cold water since warm/hot water will set stains and may • • Always air dry. Heat from hot water or clothes drier may melt synthetic fabrics to some degree making them less breathable.
