Here’s how you can do it: • Update Snipping Tool (if needed): • First, ensure that your Snipping Tool app is up-to-date. You can do this by opening the Microsoft Store, selecting Library in the lower left corner, and then clicking on Get updates in the upper right corner. • Extract Text from an Image: • Right-click on the image from which you want to extract text. • Choose “Open with” and select the Snipping Tool option. • Alternatively, you can take a screenshot of any text, and it will be automatically saved in the Screenshot folder. • In the Snipping Tool, click on the Text Action button (a rounded square icon with three lines inside). • The tool will begin analyzing the image. • Once processing is complete, you’ll be presented with two options: • Copy all text: This copies all the highlighted text. • Quick redact: Use this if you want to redact sensitive information. • Choose whether to copy all the highlighted text or specific portions. • For example, in the following image, we copied a paragraph and verified its accuracy. The Snipping Tool correctly extracted the text without misplacing any characters. • It even managed to extract watermark text that was barely visible! • However, there may be instances when the Snipping Tool fails to extract text from certain images. • For example, in the screenshot below, it struggled to extract simple text from an email. • Keep in mind that this feature is currently available in Windows 11 Insider only, and there’s no confirmation if it will come to Windows 10. • Remember, this feature uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) algorithms to analyze visual elements in an image and convert them into machine-readable and editable text. So go ahead and give it a try!
