BREAKING NEWS: Austin Texas’ I-35 Highway could soon get a $1.4 Billion Dollar Upgrade • The plan is to build eight possible Caps and Stiches spanning 26.6 acres. Caps are deck plazas over the highway, and Stiches are widening bridges. • Construction could begin mid 2026 and complete in 2032 • The Eight possible Caps/Stiches Locations: • 1. South of Holly Street: 0.96 acres • 2. South of Cesar Chavez: 0.27 acres • 3. Cesar Chavez to Fourth Street: 5.37 acres • 4. Fourth Street to Seventh Street: 3.28 acres • 5. 11th to 12th Street: 2.17 acres • 6. 38 1/2 Street to 41st Street: 5.21 acres • 7. 41st Street to Red Line: 4.76 acres • 8. Red Line to Airport Boulevard: 4.24 acres • These caps will entail: Live Music Venues, sports facilities, adventure parks, skateparks, climbing walls, food drinks options, gardens and green spaces, public art displays, more bike lanes, etc. • The previous plan to develop 26 acres cost a mere $868 Million, but now it’s soared more than 60% due to inflation.
