We present the first 10 minutes of this CRTN production. • Date of Production: 2018 • -------------------- • “My name is Blessed John. I am from Borno State. My village is Gwoza. Boko Haram came on 24th April 2014. They killed 338 people. They kidnapped women and young girls. They caught young boys and killed them. One of Boko Haram caught me and shot my leg. He said: “You should pray like Islam” I told him I wouldn’t because I am baptized. I am not a follower of Islam. I was two months and a half with Boko Haram. I didn’t have anything, I didn’t have food. He told me I had to pray, but I am Christian, I have God in my heart from baptism. I am not going to pray for Islam. I had a chance and I ran for Cameroon.” • Nigeria is one of Africa's most populous nations. The country's population of 160 million is roughly divided between the mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south, with some 250 different ethnic groups. Tensions in the North are high through the repeated attacks on Christians from a radical Islamic group, Boko Haram. Boko Haram, which roughly translates to “Western education is forbidden” in the Hausa language, launched an armed insurgency against the Nigerian government in 2009. To date more than 20,000 have been killed in the conflict and 2.6 million people have been displaced. This film documents the stories of those who have suffered at the hands of this radical group. • -------------- • This CRTN production was financed by the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need.
