F1's Most Bizarre Trophies • Formula 1 sometimes has some truly bizarre trophies for its Grand Prix events! In 1993, when Ayrton Senna won the European Grand Prix, he was handed a golden Sonic the Hedgehog trophy because SEGA sponsored that particular race. Similarly, at the 1990 Australian Grand Prix, sponsored by Foster's Lager, race winner Nelson Piquet received a large golden-framed Foster's beer can as a trophy. One of the strangest trophies so far came from the 2023 Japanese and U.S. Grand Prix races, where winners were awarded kiss-activated trophies that lit up in the colors of the winner’s national flag. From 2018 to 2022, the French Grand Prix presented winners with a literal King Kong trophy. The latest addition to this odd list comes from the 2024 U.S. Grand Prix, where the winner was supposed to receive a Mickey Mouse-like trophy named 'Heroo,' but instead they were awarded a Tire Trophy. • #formula1 #f1 #f1shorts #formula1shorts #f1news #formula1news
