Mayor Cam Guthrie Introduces the City of Guelphs 2025 Draft Budget

Today, I am proud to present the 2025 draft budget for the City of Guelph. • Working collaboratively with our professional staff, we have achieved a property tax impact for the city’s portion of 2.59%. This is under the cap I set though a Mayoral Direction in February, which would have seen a 2.63% city portion of a 4% total budget. The other 1.37% is related to the budgets for outside boards and shared services (including police, library, public health, conservation authority, and more) that are not under the direct control of City Council. These budgets will be presented to Council in late January 2025. • Considering the projected nearly 10% property tax increase for 2025, residents and businesses will save more of their hard-earned money. • I call on everyone to engage with me and Council in the weeks ahead. I will be hosting a virtual town hall and holding town hall meetings across the city before the draft budget is finalized on November 27.
