Erskine Childers

President Erskine Childers was born in London in 1905. Though only a quarter Irish he identified as solely Irish and spent his entire adult life in Eire. He was a communicant of the Church of Ireland. Childers was a Fianna Failer and elected president in 1972. In November 1974 he was felled by a heart attack.
