See how to safely connect aluminum and copper conductors with each other with WAGO connectors using WAGO ALU-PLUS contact paste. • In the video, I show how to apply the paste using the WAGO 222 coupler • Guidelines from the WAGO website: • ALU-PLUS CONTACT PASTE • Installation of aluminum cables to WAGO couplings • Under the conditions set out below, it is allowed to connect solid aluminum conductors to some spring clamp terminals. • WAGO installation couplings: • The fittings are equipped with PUSH WIRE® clamps (series 2273,773) or with CAGE CLAMP® clamps (series 222, 224). • Connectors up to 4 mm² and max. 4 mm² aluminum conductor cross-section. • The clamp will be properly filled with the special Alu-Plus contact paste (catalog number 249-130). • ATTENTION! It is not allowed to connect aluminum conductors by means of couplings with a lever from series 221. • WAGO Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks: • Fittings equipped with CAGE CLAMP® clamps • Connectors up to 4 mm² and max. 4 mm² aluminum conductor cross-section. • The clamp will be properly filled with the special Alu-Plus contact paste (catalog number 249-130). • ATTENTION! It is not allowed to connect aluminum conductors to the Push-in CAGE CLAMP® terminals • (TOPJOB® S fitting family). • Functional features of Alu-Plus contact paste • limiting air access to the terminal and preventing oxidation of the contact points • preventing electrolytic corrosion between aluminum conductors and the copper conductor rail of the connector • elimination of the oxide layer at the moment of introducing the wires to the PUSH WIRE® terminal • providing long-term anti-corrosion protection • Advantages of Alu-Plus contact paste: • preventing electrolytic corrosion between aluminum conductors and the copper conductor rail of the connector • providing long-term anti-corrosion protection • restricting air access to the terminal and preventing oxidation of the contact area • elimination of the oxide layer when the wires are jammed • Instructions for connecting aluminum conductors • Strip the aluminum conductor to the length indicated in the data sheet or on the infographics on the connector housing. • Clean the oxidized surface of the stripped end of the aluminum conductor. • Apply a layer of Alu-Plus contact paste from the applicator to the surface of the aluminum conductor end. • Use a special applicator (syringe) to introduce the contact paste into the opening of the connector, to which the aluminum wire will be mounted, until the clamp is completely filled. For CAGE CLAMP® and Lever-Open Clamps, open the springs with an assembly tool or lever before depressing the syringe plunger. • Insert the aluminum wires into the terminals filled with Alu-Plus contact paste. • Remember to limit the maximum load capacity of aluminum conductors compared to copper ones: • 2.5 mm² (Al) = max. 16 A • 4 mm² (Al) = max. 22 A • Installation fittings, series 2273 and 773 • Series 2273 • Insert the tip of the syringe with Alu-Plus paste into the holes of the adapter. Press the applicator plunger until the paste visibly fills the inside of the coupler. Then insert the wires into the terminals. • Series 773 • Proceed in the same way as for 2273 series couplings. • Lighting fittings in the 224 series • Insert the tip of the syringe with Alu-Plus paste into the circular PUSH WIRE® clamp and then into the rectangular CAGE CLAMP® opening of the lighting fitting. Then insert the wires into the terminals. Press the applicator plunger until the paste visibly fills both holes. • Universal couplings from the 222 series • Open the levers on all clamps of the coupler. Insert the tip of the syringe with Alu-Plus paste into the holes of the adapter. Press the applicator plunger until the paste visibly fills the conduit holes in the connector. Then insert the wires into the terminals. • CLASSIC rail-mounted terminal blocks with CAGE CLAMP® terminals up to 4 mm2 • Open the clamp with the mounting tool and insert the tip of the syringe with Alu-Plus paste into it. Press the applicator plunger until the paste. In this way, fill the next clamps of the strip. Then insert the wires into the terminals. visibly fill the hole in the clamp. • Installation couplings with a lever from the 221 series and TOP JOB® S Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks • It is not allowed to connect aluminum conductors with 221 series installation couplings and strip terminal blocks with Push-in CAGE CLAMP® terminals. • Link (March 13, 2021): https://www.wago.com/pl/technika-lacz... • #WAGO #ALUPLUS #ALUMINUM # WAGO222 # WAGO224 # WAGO2273 # WAGO773 #CAGECLAMP #PUSHWIRE
