The greater the challenge in the moment, the greater the appreciation in the end. I think the old saying, “take the road less traveled” is to say, don’t take the easy path. Instead, take the path that will demand your very best. And if you give your best, even if you fail, you can stand proud in the end. For if you take the easy path, even if you succeed, you will reflect and realize, nothing easy is worth being proud of. So when it comes time to set your next goal, set it at such a level that it can only be attained with your maximum effort and mental focus. And when times get tough along the way and you feel the urge to give up (because you will), just remind yourself that nothing easy is worth being proud of. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Pause and appreciate the challenge. Then, pack your lunch, put your head down and keep choppin’. You’re the leader.
