The Jumping Hip Twist is a drill that I personally like to do and have my students do, especially beginners. This drill helps students understand that in order to throw a successful leg kick or body kick, they must open up their hips. It programs them to turn their foot OUTWARDS when throwing a kick and also gives them a nice calf work out in the process.
