Carrying Yarn Along the Edge While Striping Colors

This video demonstrates how I alternate between colors when striping my rows. This project shows 2 rows of my light color and 6 rows (3 garter ridges) of my dark color. • When you are finished with a color, place it on top of the next color and bring that next color up to knit the next row. • You can still carry your yarn along the edge if you are knitting more than 2 rows of a color (like I'm doing with the dark gray). At the beginning of every right side row, place the working color on top and wrap it fully around the contrast color for a full twist. This will twist the strands together every other row so you don't get a long loose float with your contrast color (shown in white). • Be careful not to carry yarn too tightly so your edge still has a bit of stretch. • 0:36 crossing the old strand on top of the next strand. I often do this yarn cross maneuver when I work a xAB or xBA instruction in some of my other patterns. • Let your creativity flow with a Westknits Workshop on marling, modular knitting, stripes and slip stitches, brioche, and designing your own top-down shawl.
