There is some dispute as to how closely Alice Liddell can be identified with the Alice in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland , however there is no doubt that she was the book's original inspiration. Both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There were dedicated to her and there is an acrostic poem at the end of Through the Looking-Glass which spells out her name, (read the first letter of each line). • A boat beneath a sunny sky, • Lingering onward dreamily • In an evening of July — • Children three that nestle near, • Eager eye and willing ear, • Pleased a simple tale to hear — • Long has paled that sunny sky: • Echoes fade and memories die: • Autumn frosts have slain July. • Still she haunts me, phantomwise, • Alice moving under skies • Never seen by waking eyes. • Children yet, the tale to hear, • Eager eye and willing ear, • Lovingly shall nestle near. • In a Wonderland they lie, • Dreaming as the days go by, • Dreaming as the summers die: • Ever drifting down the stream — • Lingering in the golden gleam — • Life, what is it but a dream? • The photographs were taken by Lewis Carroll himself, apart from the last one which was taken by W. Coulbourn Brown. • The music is by Kevin Macleod and is called Enchanted Journey • Enchanted Journey by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...) • Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-... • Artist: http://incompetech.com/
