Beautiful Song Of An Asian Koel Bird

I present to you a lovely 'Asian Koel' (Eudynamys scolopaceus) singing on a tree near my home. This is a male bird and was probably communicating with some birds as you can hear a conversation type call with another koel somewhere away. It is always a great pleasure to find this lovely bird. Usually it hides behind tree branches, so it is easier to hear this bird singing than to actually see it singing. • Please do note that this is a male bird as you can see it is completely black. With careful observation, you will note that the eyes of the male (as well as female) is bright red. The female birds are somewhat grey and have white spots. We here in eastern India usually get lots of Koels in spring, early to mid-summer months. I believe they are found all round the year in Southern India. This bird is very significant, and frequently mentioned in Indian culture and poetry. Its calls are loved celebrated in India and elsewhere through the ages.
