Welcome to the Stuff4Tots Disposable Diapers Challenge! • In this video, we'll be testing 3 diaper brands for Absorption Capacity, Absorption Speed, Dryness, and Fastening Strength. • First up is the Huggies brand in Newborn size. • Next is the Pampers brand in Newborn size. • And then comes Seventh Generation in Newborn size. • For the first challenge, we’re going to take a look at absorption capacity – how much urine a diaper can hold before it becomes saturated. • To simulate baby's urine, we'll be using 0.9% Sodium Chloride. • We'll be mixing some blue food coloring into the saline solution. This way, we'll see how the liquid flows on and through the diapers as we test them. • And on with the challenge! • First up, the Huggies diaper! • First, we'll weigh the dry diaper. • This Huggies dry diaper weighs 0.28oz or 8g. • Let's soak this baby up! (no pun intended!) • Soak for 10 minutes. • Once 10 minutes is up, we'll hang the diaper for 2 minutes to allow any unabsorbed water to drip off. • Let's see how much liquid this Huggies Dry diaper has taken in. • This wet diaper now weighs 11.15oz or 316g. It has absorbed 10.86oz or 307.8g. • We repeated this test with 4 more Huggies Newborn diapers, and the average liquid absorbed was 10.48oz or 297g. • The Pampers diaper is up next! • Let's see how much this dry diaper weighs. • This Pampers dry diaper weighs 0.35oz or 10g. • It's time to get this baby soaked! • Soak for 10 minutes. • After 10 minutes, we'll let the diaper drip for 2 minutes to allow any unabsorbed water to drip off. • Let's see how much liquid this Pampers diaper has absorbed. • This wet diaper now weighs 7.6oz or 216g. It has absorbed 7.2oz or 206g. • We repeated this test with 4 more Pampers Newborn diapers, and the average liquid absorbed was 7.10oz or 201g. • Next up is the Seventh Generation diaper. • Let's see how much this dry diaper weighs. • This Seventh Generation dry diaper weighs 0.35oz or 10g. • Let's soak up this baby! • Soak for 10 minutes. • Once 10 minutes is up, we'll hang the diaper for 2 minutes to allow any unabsorbed water to drip off. • Let's see how much liquid this Seventh Generation diaper has absorbed. • This wet diaper now weighs 10.48oz or 297g. It has absorbed 10.1oz or 286g. • We repeated this test with 4 more Seventh Generation Newborn diapers, and the average liquid absorbed was 9.11oz or 258g. • For absorption capacity, our observations show that the Huggies brand absorbed the most liquid. • For the second challenge, we’ll be testing our diaper brands for absorption speed. The quicker a diaper can absorb urine, the less likely it is to leak out of the diaper. • We'll be pouring 100ml every time the diaper finishes absorbing liquid. • First up is the Huggies diaper! • Huggies quickly absorbed the first pour of 100ml in 20 seconds. It took 25 seconds for Huggies to absorb another 100ml. For the third pour of 100ml, it took 3 minutes and 33 seconds before the Huggies diaper absorbed it all. • Let's see how fast the Pampers diaper takes in 100ml. • Pampers quickly absorbed the first pour of 100ml in 25 seconds. It took 1 minute and 44 seconds for Pampers to absorb another 100ml. For the third pour of 100ml, it took 7 minutes and 29 seconds before the Pampers diaper stopped absorbing any more liquid. • Let's see how fast the Seventh Generation diaper absorbs 100ml. • Seventh Generation quickly absorbed the first pour of 100ml in 35 seconds. It took 40 seconds for Seventh Generation to absorb another 100ml. For the third pour of 100ml, the Seventh Generation diaper absorbed too slowly to measure. • For absorption speed, our observations show that the Huggies brand absorbed liquid the fastest on the first pour of 100ml. • Continued in video... • That sums up our Disposable Diapers Challenge.
