How to Make a Potting Mix

In order to have a good soil structure, with macro and micro pores, you need a good ratio of small, medium, and large particles in the potting mix. Soil that contains only small particles will only have micro pores. It will retain too much water and will compact easily. ⠀ • ⠀ • I started this video with a MiracleGro potting mix, which contains peat moss and a few pieces of perlite. Peat moss consists of very small particles and as such, absorbs a lot of water. Perlite is supposed to make the mix better draining and provide more oxygen.
