This exercise is a good choice to follow the Prayer Stretch. It not only stretches the muscles and tendons in your forearm and hand, it also teaches you how to rotate your arm while stabilizing your shoulder blade and rib cage. While the ability to do this is a basic requirement for optimal biomechanics in the shoulder and elbow with all sports, I see many climbers and rowers who have chronic shoulder and elbow injuries because they cannot do this. Muscular and myofascial tension in your arms can also pull you head, neck and shoulder out of alignment. Therefore this is also helpful for postural correction. Once you master this, try the Advanced Elbow Twists. If that feels too intense try the Modified Archer's Stretch.
