Dural Venous Sinuses • By Dr. Saqib:Mansoor • Dural Venous Sinuses are venous spaces present between periosteal and meningeal layers of the dura. They have an inner lining of endothelium. There is no muscle in their walls, and they are valveless. • Their formation in relation to dural septa, classification into paired and unpaired sinuses is given. Drainage channels into sinuses and away from them is described with diagrams. Their Clinical Anatomy is also discussed like the very important, danger triangle of face shown and explained. • The following sinuses are discussed in my video: • 1. Cavernous sinus • 2. Superior sagittal sinus • 3. Inferior sagittal sinus • 3. Transverse sinus • 4. Sigmoid sinus • 5. Occipital sinus, • 6. Straight sinus • 7. Intercavernous sinuses, anterior and posterior • 8. Superior petrosal sinus • 9. Inferior petrosal sinus,, • 10. Sphenoparietal sinus • 11. Basilar plexus • Pterygoid plexus of veins and internal vertebral venous plexus are also described. • Formation of Internal Jugular Vein is explained using a diagram showing its exit fro Jugular Foramen. • Arachnoid granulations and arachnoid villi are explained using a figure. • Following Emissary Veins are discussed: • 1. Frontal emissary vein • 2. Parietal emissary vein • 3. Mastoid emissary vein • 4. Posterior condylar emissary vein • Tumor cells can metastasize to dural venous cells, I have elaborated. • Danger triangle of face is shown using a picture and it is explained how the infection from that area can spread to cavernous sinus. • Link to my video Cavernous Sinus Anatomy is below: •    • Cavernous Sinus Anatomy   • My video link to Anatomy of Scalp , elaborating Danger area of Scalp is below. •    • Dural Venous Sinuses
