Her last words on her deathbed were of mercy towards her attacker.—“I forgive Allessandro… and I want him to be with me in heaven.” Her converted murderer would later exclaim, “Maria’s forgiveness saved me.” • On Monday, October 12th, Saint John Cantius Church in Chicago’s River West neighborhood will host the sacred remains for a full 24 hours. A special Latin Mass in the Extraordinary Form in honor of St. Maria Goretti will be offered by Bishop Joseph Perry.
