But when someone asked me this simple question I was totally stumped. • But you don't have to be stumped, because here are some ranges for bird feather numbers! • Size is the biggest factor. More bird to cover = more feathers needed. • Hummingbird Size - About 1,000 feathers. • Pigeon Size - About 2,500 feathers. • Duck Size - About 10,000 feathers. • Swan Size - About 20,000 feathers. • And Penguins are an amazing exception. They're all somewhere around 100,000 to 150,000 feathers, based on size. But wow!
