Learn the easiest way to play the Gm (G minor) chord without using a barre chord! This version is great for fingerstyle AND strumming! We will learn the shape itself, incorporate it with some basic strumming, learn how to use it in the context of a chord progression AND a song that uses it. My goal is to help you switch to this Gm for beginners with comfort and ease. • ► Easier Way To Play Gm PDF WORKSHEET available on my Patreon page: / 62564276 • ► Grab your copy of my FREE E-BOOK! • https://goodguitarist.com/learn-rhyth... • ► Need help with the basic chords and strumming? I illustrate this on the screen from your perspective. • We'll be learning easy G minor in two parts: our middle finger plays the 3 fret of the thickest string, and our ring and pinky play the 3rd frets of the G and B strings. It's important to mute the A string and high E string, but this sort of naturally happens anyway and is fairly easy to accomplish. • Once we're comfortable with the shape itself, we can add it to a chord progression. I've chosen a progression in D major that, in this context, makes Gm a minor iv chord, which is a very melancholy sound (like you'd find in No Surprises by Radiohead). We need to pay attention to the chord that comes before this easy G minor and the chord that comes after it because those are the two switches we're going to need to make. We break it all down we practice the switches and then we put our chord progression together. • At this point you're able to play that easy G minor chord, but I also have a song suggestion: If I Fell by The Beatles. In that song, you'll find G minor after a D and before an A chord. That means we need to switch from D to G minor and from G minor to A - illustrating what we practiced earlier in the lesson. • If you want a written version of everything we do in this lesson, a pdf worksheet is available on my Patreon page: / 62564276 • Enjoy! • -James • --- • http://goodguitarist.com/easy-way-to-... • / goodguitarist • #beginnerguitar #guitarlesson #guitartutorial
