In a first-of-its-kind study, scientists report that avocado seed husks, which are usually discarded along with the seed, are hidden gold mines packed with a previously unrecognized plethora of chemical compounds. They say these compounds could eventually be used to treat a host of debilitating diseases, as well as to enhance the allure of cosmetics, perfumes and other consumer goods. • Debasish Bandyopadhyay, Ph.D. • University of Texas Rio Grande Valley • This ground-breaking scientific research was presented in a press conference featured at the American Chemical Society’s 254th National Meeting in Washington, D.C. • For more ground-breaking science, please check out ACS in the News: https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pr... • Subscribe! http://bit.ly/AmerChemSOc • Facebook! / americanchem. . • Twitter! / acspressroom • You might also like: • Press Conferences from #NOLA: • • Progress toward a new flu treatment, ... • Press Conferences from #ACSsanFran: • • No more ‘superbugs’?
