Parmenides of Elea is a pre-Socratic philosopher best known for his thesis of being. His sole work, On Nature, is composed of three sections: Proem, Reality, and Opinion. After exploring all three, this video acknowledges an apparent contradiction between sections of Reality and Opinion also known as the A-D Paradox. Four interpretations of the solution to the paradox are offered. Finally, the common viewpoint of Heraclitus vs Parmenides is challenged through inspecting their respective histories and thought. • Music: • tony stocker - city lights • • tony stocker - city lights • Timestamps: • 00:00 || Introduction • 00:56 || On Nature: Proem, Reality, Opinion • 10:58 || The A-D Paradox and Four Interpretations • 17:03 || Heraclitus and Parmenides • 21:16 || Conclusion • Sources: • Grondin, Jean.
