Sine and cosine are fundamental concepts in trigonometry that describe the relationship between angles and the sides of a right triangle. Imagine a circle, and focus on any angle starting from the circle's center. Sine and cosine help you understand the position of that angle's endpoint on the circle. • Sine measures how high the endpoint of the angle is from the horizontal axis. If you imagine the angle as a line moving clockwise, the sine value increases until it reaches the top of the circle (90°), then decreases as it moves back down. Cosine, on the other hand, measures how far to the right the endpoint is from the vertical axis. It starts at its maximum value when the angle is 0°, then decreases as the line moves toward 90°, where it hits zero. • Together, sine and cosine help in analyzing waves, circular motion, and even sound and light patterns. They’re not just abstract math concepts but powerful tools in engineering, physics, and even computer graphics. Understanding these two functions opens the door to exploring more complex trigonometric relationships and their applications in the real world. • • More Lessons: http://www.MathAndScience.com • Twitter:   / jasongibsonmath
