DIY Bicycle Fork Mount Storage

Often time, our riders the front bike wheel off for travel to and from ride start points. Instead of putting the front bicycle wheel back on for bike storage and removing the wheel for travel, we'll show you how to make a DIY bicycle wooden bike stand from a Universal Fork Mount Block Bicycle Bike Hitch. which you can place beside the bike or hang next for under $15. • What you'll need: • Drill Set, block of wood scrounged from a wood pile making use it's at least a foot wide (free), a front fork mount hitch is available from Ebay or Amazon ($12.99 - $15.00) and a few bolts and accessories ($1.25) from Lowes or Home Depot • Here are the steps in building the floor mount: • 1. Place the front fork mount holes in the middle of the block and draw circles for the hole. • 2. Using the proper drill bit, drill out the holes • 3. To get the proper bolt, washer, lock washer and nut (from Lowes or Home Depot), place the bolt next to the block of wood with the mount on top. Measure form the bottom of the wood to about 1/4 above the fork mount. This will be the size of the bolt required. • 4. Count sink one side of the holes just a little deeper the bolt head • 5. Insert the bolt through the wood and fork mount. Attach lock washer, regular washer and nut. Tighten firmly. • Now we have a DYI bike rack for your road bike, mountain bike or trail bike you can place off to the side in for bicycle storage off to one side of your garage or cellar. We chose this bike storage idea to have a moveable, portable storage devise rather than placing the front fork mount on the wall (wall mount) in case we want to move the stand or use it for a different size bike (road or mtb). The construction is easy and cheap.
