Tammuz and Ishtar mythology is one of the most popular myths in the ancient Mesopotamian legends. • Tammuz is often regarded as the dying and rising god, which is emblematic of the sun going through its cycles of life and death. Tammuz is mentioned in the Bible in the book of Ezekiel, and it is said the the cult of Tammuz and Ishtar may have been introduced to the Kingdom of Judah during the reign of King Manasseh. • He is both the husband and the son of Ishtar, which is the goddess of justice, love, beauty, and sex.
