I did an experiment with 5 home ingredients to remove rust. • The internet is full of different methods to remove rust with simple ingredients you have at home. I wanted to find the best and most effective way to remove rust fast. I used the following ingredients: • Vinegar • Tomato Sauce • Lemon Juice • Salt • Baking soda • First I only did the vinegar, tomato sauce and lemon juice. I left it for a few days and scrubbed the horseshoe with steelwool to remove the rust and then I repeated the process. • I was curious with the other methods that was suggested. So I put it to the test. The one was vinegar and salt and the other one was vinegar, salt and baking soda. Vinegar, salt and baking soda - when baking soda and vinegar is mixed, the chemical reaction transforms the vinegar and baking soda into water and carbon dioxide. • The results was amazing, the best method according to the experiment and my findings are the following: • 1. Vinegar and salt - This method is the one I will be using on my future projects. The reaction on the rust is fast and works the best according to me. • 2. Vinegar, salt and baking soda - This method took a lot longer than all the other methods, I did get the best result with this ingredients. It takes a lot longer so will only do this when I have time to wait for the rust to be removed. • 3. Lemon Juice - This method works fast, its almost like the vinegar and salt. Will definitely use this method again, the steelwool wasn't needed as you could just rub your thumb over the horseshoe. • 4. Tomato Sauce - This method amazed me as I did not think it would have such great results. I would not use this in the future but the only reason is that you have to repeat a few times for amazing results and its a lot more messy to clean. • 5. Vinegar - I thought in the beginning that this method would be nr.1. I will not repeat the vinegar alone.
