What happens when the title company or attorney misses the back delinquent real estate taxes after you close on a house? Well, that's exactly what happened to me today. I bought a house and a week after closing I received a demand letter from the Virginia Beach Treasurer. They're saying I'm almost $6k behind on my real estate taxes even though I've only owned the property for a few days. Needless to say my stomach was in a knot when I opened the letter.
