Collins Classics is pleased to present Jacek Kaspszyk and the London Philharmonic's 1989 performance of 'Emperor Waltz, Op. 437' by Johann Strauss II. • Strauss' 'Emperor Waltz' or 'Kaiser-Walzer' was composed as a toast made in August of 1889 by the Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph I, on the occasion of his visit to the German Emperor, Wilhelm II. The waltz was symbolic as a 'toast of friendship' extended by Austria-Hungary to the German Empire. The waltz was first performed in Berlin on 21 October 1889. • Listen to 'Emperor Waltz, Op. 437' along with some of Johann Strauss II's other great works including 'The Blue Danube', 'Die Fledermaus' and Johann Strauss I's 'Radetzky March' here - https://CollinsClassics.lnk.to/BlueDa... • If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and leave a comment below. • Want to hear more from us? • Like our Facebook page - / collins-clas. . • Follow our Twitter - / collinsclassic2 • Follow our Instagram - / collins.cla. . • Subscribe to our mailing list - https://www.collinsclassics.co.uk/
