They occur due to having fragile skin on the shins, hands, and arms and /or from petechiae which are black and blues from blood thinners such as Aspirin, from trauma such as falling of banging of an extremity. • Skin tears can become complicated if not cared for properly. Using steri-strips, non-stick dressing, and Kling wrap with daily changing can heal them in a week's time. Your loved one could develop infection and other complications.
