Breadsticks, and bread in general, are my dining experience. Especially unlimited bread bowls like at Olive Garden. I will be remaking Olive Garden's salty, buttery, carb vehicles at home for my personal desire. • Find me: • Twitter: / sweetestvegan • Facebook: / sweetestvegan • Pinterest: / sweetestvegan • Instagram: / thesweetestvegan • Blog: http://thesweetestvegan.com/ • Vegan Breadsticks Recipe • Attribution: abcnews.go.com/GMA/recipe?id=11745412 • Ingredients: • 2 tablespoons raw sugar • 1 packet dry active yeast (about 2 teaspoons) • 1 cup + 1 tablespoons warm water • 1 cup whole wheat flour • 2 cups bread flour • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/4 cup vegan butter • 2 tablespoons vegan butter, melted • 1 teaspoon garlic salt • Directions: • Dissolve the sugar in warm water then stir in the yeast. • Let it sit in a warm place for 5 - 10 minutes until a foam forms on the top. (If it doesn't, buy new yeast and start over). • Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Use a wooden spoon to cut the vegan butter into the flour. • Stir in the wet ingredients, and then knead dough for 10 minutes on a lightly floured surface. • Place the dough ball in a clean bowl and cover with linen or towel. • Leave it to rise for 1 1/2 hours but make sure it is not in a drafty or cool environment. • When it has doubled in size, dump it back out onto a lightly floured surface. • Slice it into 8 equal pieces like a pizza. • Hand roll it into a snake shape about 7 inches long and line them up side by side on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. • Cover them with a towel and let them sit for another 1 1/2 hours. • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 12 minutes until golden brown. • When removed from the oven, brush with melted vegan butter and sprinkle with garlic salt.
