The effect is to give you a wider bigger mix. • BX_Console G Review • Compressor • The Bx_Console N compressor sounds really great! • I was a little worried about the compressor with fast attack times 3 sec release times, but I have to say this compressor surprised me. • Even with the fast attack time you can get smooth subtle compression. • That is possible thanks to the mix blend knob and the secondary release, which helps with pumping. • EQ • I found the EQ to be very smooth, surgical musical. It's a very forgiving EQ, You can do a fair amount of boosting without getting harshness. • The Low Hi-band has the option to switch between a peak shelf filter with Hi-Q option. This really comes in handy and helps with shaping the low end. • THD Feature • THD adds nice saturation and sounds great on pretty much any instrument, including vocals. • It works really well for adding back some warmth after using their hi-pass filter to roll of some of the low frequencies you don't need or want. • I love to use the THD feature on synths, bass drums. • The synths can sound a bit thin but the THD feature helps to get back what you lost, and do it in a clean, smooth way. You can also use THD for adding bite to your bass, and snap to your snare drums. • Pros Cons • Pros: sounds great, adds nice punch to drums but can also be used in a subtle way, THD Feature, Random all, TMT ( Tolerance Modeling Technology) • Cons: wish there was a resize GUI option. The GUI can seem a bit congested cluttered at times, wish the controls flowed a little better. • Conclusion • I think the BX_Console N is a great plugin and can really help take your mixes to the next level. • It can be a bit intimidating at first look, but once you learn the way the plugin reacts, you will be happy with the results.
