Marsabit communities thrill visitors with colourful traditional catwalk

http://www.nation.co.ke • Communities living in Marsabit County thrilled participants during the 2016 Marsabit Lake Turkana Cultural Festival and Marathon with a traditional catwalk. • The girls and morans marched past the visitors in style amid ululations from the happy participants. • Dressed in traditional regalia, the girls and morans, showcased the culture of the 14 communities that live in Marsabit. • The annual festival at Loyalgalani on the south-Eastern Coast of Lake Turkana attracted thousands of visitors including international tourists. • Loyangalani means a place of many trees in the native Samburu tongue and is home to the El Molo, an almost extinct community. • In 2008, the National Museums of Kenya opened the first and only desert museum in the town, with the inaugural fete being held.
