ℹ️ http://www.mountainbothies.org.uk • 📍Central Highlands, Blackmount Estate • The former farmhouse by the West Highland Line was lived in far longer than the nearby railway halt was ever in use. Accounts from the last residents recall a one room schoolhouse in a carriage on the platform and a tough life where no one could afford to be ill, and barter went further than currency. • The Mountain Bothies Association has looked after Gorton since 1978. It is a basic bothy, without bunks, platforms or toilets, but it is bright and pleasing. Visits here are simple and peaceful. • * • Notes for visitors: • Gorton: https://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/bo... • Availability: Not available during stag stalking season without prior permission. The stag stalking season runs from 12 August to 20 October and the hind cull runs from 21 October to 15 February; before going on the hills during these periods please contact the Estate or use Hillphones to find out where deer control is taking place. • Hillphones: https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/ • There is no fuel supplied at the bothy, not any to forage in the surroundings. Visitors are asked to bring in their own. • * • The Mountain Bothies Association maintains simple shelters in remote country for the use and benefit of all those who love wild and lonely places. Check the website for more information on donation, membership and volunteering. • Please read up on The Bothy Code before you go, or view our video about it, and fill in a bothy report on the website when you return. • • The Bothy Code (and how to follow it) • Have a wonderful stay, make many happy memories, and leave the bothy better than you found it. • * • 🎵Music Credit: • https://uppbeat.io/t/jacob-taylor-arm... • License code: CFFBUPQEXDBAZLN6
