Moszkowski's barcarolle 'Gondoliera', not only shares its title with the first piece in Liszt's 'Années de pèlerinage II, Supplément', but was likely inspired by it as well. Moszkowski was certainly familiar with Liszt and had played his 'Gondoliera'. Moszkowski's piece exhibits the typical characteristics of a Venetian barcarolle: a 6/8 time signature, the rocking rhythm of alternating quarter and eighth notes (in the middle section), and the key of G minor. • pf: Fannie Bloomfield Zeisler (piano roll) • original audio: • Gondoliera, Op. 41
