Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Mine Tour, Strataca Salt Mine or the Kansas Underground Salt Museum. The Salt Mine Attraction and museum is built within one of the world's largest deposits of rock salt and provides the opportunity to go 650 feet beneath the Earth’s surface. It is a unique destination attraction for exploring an environment carved from salt deposits formed 275 million years ago. The museum is located in the Hutchinson Salt Company mine which began operation in 1923 as Carey Salt Company. There are 14 other salt mines in the United States, but none of them are accessible to tourists. It is located about 40 minutes from Wichita in Hutchinson Kansas. • See the exclusive salt safari tour where they hand you flashlights because that is the only way to see anything. When you go into the mines you will see a ton of old items including old dynamite boxes and old machinery they had left abandoned in the mine. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and once again we were able to out of the carts and pick a pieces of salt straight from the mines. It amazing to see how with no weather or erosion everything is sitting perfectly how it was left from the 1950's. This Safari was awesome and highly recommend doing The Salt Safari. • #saltmine • #underground • #strataca • http://www.drakestravels.com
