Negros Occidental is known for its sugar industry. Back in the days when sugar production was at its peak, it created local folks to rich sugar barons. The heritage houses that still stand today were mostly owned by these sugar barons. • In 2018, on our visit to Negros Occidental courtesy of Seda Capitol Central Bacolod, we visited three heritage houses in the cities of Bacolod and Talisay. • First was Daku Balay, an art deco house which was once the tallest building in Bacolod.
