For the Be2+ structure use the periodic table to find the total number of valence electrons for Be. Once we know how many valence electrons there are in Beryllium (Be) we can figure out the Be2+ Lewis dot structure. Since the Beryllium ion is positive (Be2+) that means it has lost two negative charges (two valence electrons). • Whereas Be has two valence electrons, Be2+ is written without any. However, to understand fully you'll need to look at the way the electrons are distributed around the Be atom to understand the Be2+ Lewis diagram. • ---- Lewis Resources ---- • • Lewis Structures for Ionic Compounds: • How to Draw Lewis Dot Structures for ... • • Lewis Structures for Covalent Compounds: • How to Draw Lewis Structures: Five Ea... • • Counting Valence Electrons: • Finding the Number of Valence Electro... • • Calculating Formal Charge: • Formal Charges: Calculating Formal Ch... • • Exceptions to the Octet Rule: • Exceptions to the Octet Rule • More chemistry help at https://www.Breslyn.org. • Drawing/writing done in InkScape.
